Twinings Tea’s New U.S. Web Site Helps Customers Find Their Cup of Tea
Interactive “Tea Finder” Boosts Tea Sales and Knowledge
February 8, 2007/Glastonbury, Conn. – A market leader in specialty teas since 1706, London-based Twinings launched a stateside web site – www.TwiningsUSA.com – for its 300th anniversary with a unique feature – an interactive tea finder that guides users to the “right blend, taste, and tea strength for any mood or any moment.”
Designed and developed by Cronin and Company, Inc. of Glastonbury, Conn., the site is designed to build brand awareness and capitalize on the changing view consumers hold of tea.
“Only Twinings brings 300 years of passion and expertise to each cup of tea, and we realized that we could share that knowledge and love of tea with our expanding American customer base in an interesting and interactive way online,” said Michael Cobb, Marketing Director, Twinings USA. “Now, selecting the perfect blend couldn’t be easier.”
Twinings sells more than 200 blends of teas worldwide. The American web site includes an online store offering blends not available in the U.S.
“The tea finder was born out of our desire to answer a need – to help customers to, literally, find their cup of tea among the large range of Twinings Tea products,” said Dan Weingrod, Vice President and Managing Director, Digital Services at Cronin. “We knew an interactive feature would add depth and usefulness to the site.”
In just six months, the web site has driven online sales in North America up nearly 30 percent and captured 4,500 registered users. To drive additional traffic to the web site, Cronin also created a quarterly email campaign for Twinings, the second of which doubled daily sales just four hours after the email was sent.
In addition to the tea finder, the site offers recipes, historical information, a tea-of-the-month feature, tea accessories and gifts. The company’s latest tea innovations are highlighted, including this month’s launch of a new line of herbal teas.
