Cronin Wins Two Bell Ringer Awards

GLASTONBURY, CONN./ June 16, 2017 – Cronin, a digitally-driven marketing agency in Connecticut, has received two awards from the Publicity Club of New England. The Bell Ringer Awards recognize superior work completed by public relations and communications professionals across New England. The agency received top honors for public relations excellence related to campaigns for its McDonald’s clients.

“We are truly honored to receive this recognition from our peers,” said Kim Manning, Principal and Chief Executive Officer at Cronin. “We are extremely proud of the work we do on behalf of our clients. We continually strive to deliver innovative and creative campaigns that generate solid results.”

Cronin received one Gold Award and one Merit Award:

  • Gold Bell in the Response to Breaking News category for the “McDonald’s Surprises High School Basketball Stars” entry. Cronin capitalized on embargoed information of two local high school players nominated for the McDonald’s All American Basketball team by announcing the details on the client’s Twitter page as soon as the publicity restrictions were lifted. The campaign received significant social media buzz as well as traditional media coverage.
  • Merit Award in the Guerilla Marketing Campaign category for the “McDonald’s Lobster Bike Tour” entry. The Lobster Roll was back at McDonald’s for the summer and the agency surprised and delighted consumers by distributing coupons from festively decorated McDonald’s lobster-themed cruiser bikes at busy beaches, parks and downtown areas in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. The tactic contributed to increased sales.

The Bell Ringer Awards program was instituted to recognize public relations work which demonstrates excellence in creative planning and professional education and exhibits a high degree of success in reaching predetermined objectives. Open to all New England practitioners, the program, now in its 49th year, symbolizes one of the greatest tributes in any field or endeavor – the recognition of superior performance by one’s peers.
